Manners. In order for your horse to have manners, you need to decide what he can or can’t do, and be consistent. Whenever he does something you want, like standing still, reward him with praise. If he does something you don’t want, like shifting while standing, repeat the command for that desired behaviour (in this case, “stand” and praise if he does this; if he does not, then move away from him, ignore him, and return after a minute or so and start again – in this case ask for “stand”).
Always be consistent, do not let him “get away” with things, and always remember to give the command and praise the correct behaviour. Set your horse up to win, and praise him when he does!
