Do you find yourself getting tense when concentrating whilst riding? This tension will be transferring through to your horse, which will probably make you more tense! A lot of people focus and then hold their breath, and this creates tension. Try humming, singing, or counting your horse’s footfalls out loud – this will ensure your breathing is regular and will reduce some tension. Also, take time to stop what you are doing and stretch out your shoulders, your legs, and your neck; this will allow you to reset yourself, and you and your horse will probably move better after too!
